Kursumlija’s municipal prosecution has applied for permission to launch an investigation against 3 suspended policemen. Miljan Komnenovic, Milos Filipovic and Ivan Milosavljevic are suspected of trying to coerce confessions from brothers Toni and Ivica Jovanovic on August 4, said Republic Public Prosecution Office spokesman Tomo Zoric. The Public Prosecutor’s Office said that in line with the standards of the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhumane or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, it was reviewing similar cases that occurred from time to time, in order to react in a timely manner with a view to upholding human, civil and minority rights. The Public Prosecutor’s Office said that in future, it would keep taking all the necessary measures to protect human and minority rights. The Interior Ministry suspended the three policemen yesterday and disciplinary procedures have been launched against the three officers.
