The Sunday newspapers continue to report and speculate on the ongoing talks to put together Serbia's new ruling coalition. BLIC—"BIA and tycoons want own government", the daily says, and claims blackmail is playing a prominent role as parties negotiate the next cabinet. Press: Socialists continue to dominate front pages "Passports by end of June", announces that the issuing of new Serbian passports will start in about a month's time. VECERNJE NOVOSTI—"Troika already to distributing portfolios", says of the progress in the SRS-DSS-SPS government talks. "Patriarch without powers", is about the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) decision regarding His Holiness Patriarch Pavle. GAZETA—"Ivice, your government is on fire", the tabloid uses a Serbian pun as it reports that the SPS leader was attending a wedding while the cabinet talks are ongoing. GLAS JAVNOSTI—"Hostage of Albanian mafia", is about a Serb who was forced to sell up his property in Kosovo after being imprisoned and tortured "in Albanian jails". "Patriarch at helm, Synod has all power", more on the SPC Synod meeting in Belgrade and the decision the assembly of senior dignitaries made. The Serbian meaning of Ivica Dacic's first name – "edge" – does not cease to inspire newspaper editors: "Ivica on edge in Brussels too". The article looks at European perspectives – this time of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS). KURIR—"SPS does not sit in two chairs", more from Dacic, who says his party is not talking to the Democrats (DS). POLITIKA—On a (much) lighter note, the daily announces the upcoming contest of Europe's popular music: "Belgrade under Eurovision". But back to the cabinet talks business, DS leader and Serbian President Boris Tadic announces: "New premier's name soon"; whereas the outgoing premier thinks otherwise: "Kostunica: Government is formed by majority". PRESS—"Krkobabics tailor Serbia", the tabloid looks at the role of Jovan Krkobabic, leader of the Associated Pensioners Party (PUPS) – which is a junior partner in the SPS-led coalition.
