Cindy McCain, the wife of Republican presidential candidate John McCain, visited Kosovo Wednesday. McCain met with Kosovo's President Fatmir Sejdiu and Prime Minister Hashim Thaci, as well as the head of the leading mine-clearance charity, the HALO trust. McCain's wife visits Kosovo McCain is on the board of the charity, which is active in various countries. She has traveled to Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Mozambique and Angola where the charity is involved in mine-clearing. This is McCain's first visit to Kosovo, where the mine-clearance organization has led efforts to clear the territory of explosive ordnance left behind following the 1998-1999 war and NATO's air intervention.
