An earthquake measuring 4.5 degrees Richter in magnitude hit the wider Cacak area just after 18:00 CET today. The State Seismological Institute said that the quake's intensity amounted to 6.7 on the Mecalli scale. There were no reported injuries, while reports about possible damage to property are still missing. Earthquake felt in central Serbia The seismologists have pinpointed the epicenter to the slopes of Mt. Jelica in central Serbia. The tremors were felt in Cacak, Kraljevo, Gornji Milanovac, Valjevo, and Belgrade. Most of Cacak's urban area, and a village in Kraljevo, are experiencing blackouts in the wake of the earthquake. Beta news agency says that a significant number of residents went into the streets of Gornji Milanovac, disturbed by the quake. Earthquakes of this magnitude are usually followed by a series of weaker aftershocks, experts warn.
