Serbia to start registering .rs domain

Serbia will begin registering websites with the new .rs domain, replacing the old .yu. Priority for registering with the new domain will be given to those who already own .yu addresses, and will cost about RSD 2000 (about EUR 25). The price for converting .yu into .rs will be the same as for registering a new .rs domain – RSD 1500 (just under EUR 20) including VAT. All .yu domains will function for at least another two years, the length of time the transfer to .rs is expected to take, and the registration of .yu domains will be frozen as soon as .rs domains become available. The international agency for awarding names and numbers expects the transition to be complete by September 2009.
