Workers block road over unpaid wages

KRUSEVAC IMK 14. oktobar company workers blocked a bypass in the central Serbian town of Krusevac on Monday over overdue wages. “The fact that we are here and that we have blocked the bypass means that our requests have not been fulfilled. We want the factory to work, overdue wages to be paid, our health insurance to be paid and for somebody from the ministry to talk to us,” said IMK 14. oktobar independent union Deputy President Djordje Simonovic. Workers block road over unpaid wages The road was blocked between 8:45 and 10:00 CET on Monday morning and the protesting workers have announced that they will block the road tomorrow as well. Simonovic said that the workers met with the Finance Ministry’s representatives on Friday but that nothing new was heard. The workers started their protest on August 15 and have already blocked roads several times. They got their last wages in November 2011 and their health insurance has not been paid since August 5. The factory has 1,550 workers and its majority owner is the state of Serbia. Beta

The road was blocked between 8:45 and 10:00 CET on Monday morning and the protesting workers have announced that they will block the road tomorrow as well.

Simonović said that the workers met with the Finance Ministry’s representatives on Friday but that nothing new was heard.

The workers started their protest on August 15 and have already blocked roads several times.

They got their last wages in November 2011 and their health insurance has not been paid since August 5.
