Human rights organizations welcomed the ruling of the Belgrade District Court against the individual who threatened LGBT population. The court sentenced to three months of imprisonment or two years of probation Simo Vladicic, who threatened LGBT population as a member of Facebook group "500,000 Serbs against Pride Parade", states a release issued by the Center for Advanced Legal Studies. First ruling for threats against LGBT population The statement was also signed by the Independent Journalists' Association of Vojvodina, Youth Initiative for Human Rights, Civil Rights Defenders, Praxis and CHRIS Network Committee for Human Rights. This is the first ruling a Serbian court passed for bringing general safety in jeopardy by voicing threats on the internet and it bears importance for the establishment of legal prosecution practice in terms of increasingly frequent cases of threats, hate speech and other forms of discrimination on the internet, the release states. According to the document, this is also the first case in which the threats were voiced against all members of the LGBT population and not against a single individual.
