Despite several hours of rioting in Belgrade, organizers of the Belgrade Pride gay parade believe that they accomplished their goals. Lazar Pavlovic of the Gay Straight Alliance told B92 that the main goal was to hold the parade at all. "What matters is that parade was held" "It's important that the Pride Parade happened for the first time after ten years of attempts to organize it." "It shows that the political will has changed in the sense of support from the state institutions and it remained so until the end so it was demonstrated that everything can be done when there's the will to do it," said Pavlovic. "What happened in parallel (to the parade) in the streets of Belgrade shows how much some forces that have still not been defeated have their soldiers in the streets.
