The Belgrade Pride Parade is scheduled to be held on October 10, 2010. After failing to hold one last year, the organizers are calling on the state to deal with the violence and discrimination against the gay and lesbian community accordingly. Date of 2010 Pride Parade announced They said that the pride parade is not the final goal, but a part of the solution for turning the attention of the society to the problems that the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) population faces every day. The parade this year will be organized by the Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) and Queeria, the center for cultural non-violence and equality (Queeria Center), with the support of the Group for the Support of Gay Men from Novi Sad. “We see the Pride Parade 2010 as an all inclusive event, as a peaceful and nonviolent public gathering and a place where we will show together that lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender individuals in Serbia can walk through the streets of Belgrade freely and without fear with the support of all those who support equality, tolerance and the respect of human rights,” the organizers stated. Last year’s parade was planned for September 20, but cancelled after the police could not guarantee the safety of the participators.
