There are currently two serious cases of the swine flu in Serbia, one in Požega and another in Kragujevac.
The Užice health center confirmed at a press conference that a 40 year-old man from Požega infected with the swine flu is in serious condition and under constant observation by doctors.
An epidemic has not been proclaimed in the region, but hospitals have prohibited visits in Požega and Užice.
Užice Public Health Bureau Director Biljana Mijović said that the case in Požega is the only one confirmed as a swine flu case in the region, and “one of the rare serious forms of the disease” in Serbia.
Visits have also been prohibited in the Kragujevac clinical center because of increasing respiratory infections, and all employees have been ordered to wear protective masks.
A 23 year-old patient in Kragujevac is breathing with the help of a respirator and is in serious condition because of complications related to the swine flu, thought her condition has stabilized, according to doctors.
While this is the second serious case of the swine being treated in the Kragujevac clinic, the patient is the first from the city to be infected with the virus.
A women from Kraljevo that was being treated in Kragujevac died on October 21, becoming the first victim of the virus registered in Serbia.
