The 5-0 triumph against Romania, which propelled the team to the championships to be held in South Africa next year, saw Belgraders take it to the streets late on Saturday.

They greeted the bus that took the team from the stadium, with streets around the city's central square blocked by people.

No incidents were reported as thousands celebrated in the streets throughout Serbia: in Niš, Kosovska Mitrovica, Čačak, and also in Banja Luka.

The national squad, led by manager Radomir Antić, finished first in qualifying Group 7, leaving behind France, Austria and Romania.
