Serbian swimmer Milorad Cavic has won the gold medal in the 100-meter butterfly race at the European Short Course Championship in Rijeka, Croatia. Cavic's winning time of 49.19 seconds is also Europe's new record. Cavic wins gold, sets new record Serbia's Ivan Ledjer, who swam the same race, finished sixth with 50.47 seconds. "This is an unexpected result for me. I took a long break, I didn't train enough. Some were more fit than I am, but I had more desire to win," Cavic said after the race. Rafael Perez of Spain came in second, while Russia's Nikolay Skvortsov was third. The organizers decided to cut short the Serbian national anthem, sounded during the medals ceremony, which visibly affected Cavic's mood, but also that of a part of the crowd in Rijeka, who booed these glitches, our reporter said.
