Georgian directors question Kusturica’s objectivity
4 December 2008 | 15:19 | Source: FoNet
TBILISI -- Georgian film directors fear that Serbian director Emir Kusturica will not make an objective film about the August events in South Ossetia.

"If he wants to make an honest film, then he should come here and study the Georgia-Ossetian conflict from all sides,” said director Keti Dolidze, adding that she was willing to be Kusturica’s guide and show him the plight of refugees from South Ossetia.

“After that, I am ready to hear Kusturica’s opinion about the way an ‘honest’ film should be made,” Dolidze said.

Director Nana Dzanelidze said that Georgian film makers should make documentaries about the war.

“We should make films like that. We can’t always be criticized all the time,” she said.

Georgian directors have shown interest in filming their version of the August events after Russian media reported that Kusturica had signed a contract to shoot a film about the events in South Ossetia.
