A new opinion survey is out today, dubbed "Kosovo, Media, Strategic Integrations". The survey, commissioned by the Ministry for Kosovo and conducted by Publikum agency March 24 – April 1, shows that close to two-thirds – 63.9 percent of those who took part – are in favor of Serbia joining the European Union (EU). Poll: Serbians want EU, but not without Kosovo In October 2007, this number was at 71.55 percent. At the same time, 71.3 percent say it is unacceptable that the possible admission to the EU is conditioned with Serbia's recognition of the province's secession. Regarding the foreign policy orientation of citizens, the majority, some 67.11 percent are against Serbia joining NATO, while, on the other hand, 58.81 want "closest possible ties" with the Russian Federation. As for the arrival of an EU mission to Kosovo, 9.93 percent of those polled say it should be accepted by Belgrade unconditionally, while 42.73 percent say it should be rejected. 34.74 percent said the mission should be accepted if it is comes with the approval of the UN Security Council. Although most of those interviewed would want to joint the EU, some 63 percent are "mostly or absolutely" against the extradition of Serbs to the Hague Tribunal – set as the major condition for the country's EU accession. Publikum's Djordje Vukadinovic and Minister for Kosovo Slobodan Samardzic presented the results in a news conference in Belgrade Wednesday. 1,300 people took part in the survey, conducted in central and northern Serbia, excluding Kosovo.
