The moment the parade is being held is burdened with vulnerability of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, security risks in other parts of Serbia, difficult social and economic situation and political instability in the country, the region and the world,” the Police Union of Serbia and Dveri stated in the joint statement. The Police Union of Serbia pointed out that all police officers shared the Serbian citizens’ fate regarding social problems they were facing, adding that they worked in difficult conditions and that they did not want to be any social groups or lobby’s Praetorian Guard. Dveri called on the citizens who opposed the holding of the gay Pride Parade to do so in a peaceful and nonviolent way and to avoid clashes with police.
