Bushati said that once the Macedonian-Greek border has been closed, the neighboring countries "will be at the center of the refugee crisis."

"We monitor all possible routes that could be used by refugees," he stressed.

Albania, according to him, has already prepared, together with the UNHCR, a plan to overcome the refugee crisis.

Like all other Western Balkan countries, Albania has limited human and financial resources, he added, noting that "Tirana will secure its borders in cooperation with its neighbors."

But currently, he added, Albania is not thinking about closing them.

He thanked his Austrian colleague for "unlimited support" in the process of Albania's EU membership bid.

The visit, as Bushati pointed out, was "a signal that encourages Albania in the reform process."

As he did previously in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, and Montenegro, Kurtz presented a joint action plan for improvement of bilateral relations in the current year.

Kurtz announced that Austria, as it did previously did with Serbia, will work on creating an alliance of member states of the EU in order to begin accession negotiations with Tirana.
