8 Macedonian police, 14 Albanian terrorist die in clashes

Macedonian police spokesperson Ivo Kotevski said the group's leaders are all "citizens of Kosovo" and named them as Muhamed Krasniqi aka "Commander of Malisevo," Mirsad Ndrecaj aka "Commander Nato," Sami Ushkini aka "Commander Sokoli," Beg Rezaj aka "Commander Begu," and Deme Shehu aka "Juniku."

Among the eight police officers who died is a member of the Serb ethnic community in Macedonia, Boban Ivanovic.

Kotevski said on Sunday that the group consisted of more than 40 terrorists and that the five named as leaders "have been linked to formation of numerous terrorist and extremist groups in the region," and and that "so far only the identity of Mirsad Ndrecaj has not been confirmed."

He added that 14 bodies in uniforms have been found to this point, including Xhafer Zumberi from Djakovica in Kosovo and one citizen of Albania, while all the others are Macedonian citizens.

The clashes also left 37 injured. There is still no information about possible victims among civilians, Koteski said.
