Over 60 percent of Croatians would "block Serbia"
According to the website, among those in favor of blocking membership negotiations between Serbia and the EU, 69 percent have higher education, 59 percent have completed elementary school, while 61 percent are high school graduates. Most of those who said they would block Serbia come from Zagreb (74 percent), while this percentage is the lowest in northern Croatia (41 percent).
Recently, president of the nationalist Croatian Party of Rights ("Hrvatska stranka prava dr. Ante Starčević") Ivan Teses said that "Serbia's road to toward the EU will be made difficult until we get what's ours."
Reacting to this, president of the Coalition of Refugee Associations Miodrag Linta said such statements coming from Zagreb were "unfortunately nothing new," adding it was "realistic to expect" Croatia would hamper Serbia's EU membership bid.
