Regional league congratulates Serbia on "impressive result"

ABA League congratulates team Serbia on its amazing achievement, performances and team spirit demonstrated at the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain, which is an inspiration for everyone in the region, said a statement on its official site.

“ABA League is extremely proud of the fact that all Serbia national team players, that competed at the World Cup, except Nenad Krstić, spent important years of their careers playing in our competition," said the statement.

It added that as many as six of them - Marko Simonović, Stefan Jović, Bogdan Bogdanović, Nikola Kalinićc, Stefan Birčcević and Rasko Katić, earned their spot in the national team thanks to their performances during the 2013/14 season of ABA League and made their mark on the impressive result.

The national team of Serbia won the silver medal at the 2014 World Cup in Spain on Sunday losing to the United States who defended the title.

The team, along with the women's shooting team that recently won world championship gold medal, and wrestling world champion Davor Štefanek, was welcomed in Belgrade on Monday by a crowd of some 20,000 people.
