"We won' allow it. Although there were such demands, there will be no early elections in the Serb Republic (RS), although perhaps that could suit some parties in the RS, perhaps both in power and in opposition. He added that regular elections will be held in 2014 and that the Central Election Commission will announce them on May 5.

Late on Tuesday, RS President Milorad Dodik said that his Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) is willing to accept to hold early elections in the entity.

Dodik said that the party, however, does not support a proposal of the Social Democratic Party (SDP BiH) to amend the election law, which would "bring with it centralization as it proposes that the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia-Herzegovina decides on elections on any level."

"This is a new trap set by the SDP and therefore it cannot be accepted," Dodik said after a meeting of his party's top officials.

"The RS is not in a state of emergency, but we are prepared, if the opposition thinks that there should be early elections, to take that decision in parliament," Dodik concluded.

The SNSD on Tuesday said that Bosnia-Herzegovina was "in a great crisis that is generated in the Federation."

President of the opposition Serb Democratic Party (SDS) Mladen Bosić later in the day called on Dodik and the RS government to resign and thus allow early elections, "to prevent an outbreak of disorder" in this Bosnian entity as well.
