VUKOVAR The Headquarters for Defense of Croat Vukovar has announced that a protest dubbed “No to Cyrillic script in Croatia” will be held in Zagreb on Sunday. When asked whether the organization would continue to hold new protests if the state institutions once again ignored their requests, Josic said that it would not and explained that they “will wait for government representatives to come to Vukovar and put up bilingual signs and nameplates and we will see what will happen”. Headquarters for Defense of Croat Vukovar Spokesman Zdravko Komsic has called on citizens to come to the rally in large numbers “because the battle for Vukovar is still fought today but with different means this time”. Zagreb-based daily Vecernji list writes that Thompson will sing at the rally on Sunday. Thompson is an ultra-nationalist whose songs glorify the WW2 Croatian Nazi-allied Ustasha regime. Headquarters for Defense of Croat Vukovar President Tomislav Josić did not want to reveal details of the program planned for the Sunday rally, stressing it would be similar to a protest held against the introduction of bilingual and Cyrillic signs and nameplates in the town of Vukovar in February, Hina has reported.

“However, we will be much clearer, louder and fiercer than we were in Vukovar,” he said and added that a manifest and requests that would be sent from the Zagreb protest would be “different than ones sent from the Vukovar rally”.
