Muslims want RS Day declared "genocide day"

Islamic organizations in Bosnia-Herzegovina demanded, in completely identical statements, that the Republic of Srpska (RS) Day be declared the genocide day.

Islamic organizations in Bosnia-Herzegovina demanded, in completely identical statements, that the Republic of Srpska (RS) Day be declared the genocide day. The RS celebrates its national day on January 9. Muslims want RS Day declared "genocide day" Citing rulings of the International Court of Justice in The Hague, they said the entire month of January should be declared "the day of truth" because of the genocide committed by RS institutions against the Bosniaks in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The citizens association Young Muslims, which calls RS a “so-called republic”, points out that in celebration of this day, which is also the patron saint's day of the smaller Bosnian entity, will involve the RS government, schools, municipalities, as well as church services and other ceremonies. According to the statement, the Bosniaks see this as an open wound and should finally do something more. A statement published on the website of the Islamic Community of Bosnia-Herzegovina says the Young Muslims decided to support an initiative to organize book promotions, exhibits, round tables, forums and lectures about genocide all over Bosnia-Herzegovina on every January 9. Young Muslims called on all Bosniak associations, organizations, institutions and all pro-Bosnian political parties to get involved in these activities.
