Leaders of Bosnia-Herzegovina’s six political parties will meet on Wednesday in Sarajevo in order to try to reach an agreement and form a national government. The government still has not been formed even though the elections were held 15 months ago. Bosnia political leaders to meet in Sarajevo Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) leader Mladen Bosic did not want to comment on allegations that his party was considering an offer to form a government without its partner and Republic of Srpska (RS) President Milorad Dodik. Bosic could very well become a key factor in the continuation of the talks about the forming of the government. There have been rumors that Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SDP) leader Zlatko Lagumdzija has offered SDS five ministries in the new Council of Ministers and that Dodik’s Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) will not be in it. SDS MP Darko Babalj has allegedly lobbied for the deal with the SDP and the party was offered, aside from three Serb positions, to propose two Bosniak and Croat ministers, the Sarajevo media have reported. Today’s meeting is considered to be a key one, bearing in mind that SDP deputy leader Damir Hadzic said earlier that his party would leave the negotiations if the agreement on the Council of Ministers was not reached. He added that the SDP would in that case remain in the opposition and call for early parliamentary elections. Dodik said ahead of the meeting in Sarajevo that he would only stay in the city for three hours “due to prior obligations”. This is the SNSD leader’s way of indirectly saying that today’s negotiations will not yield any results. The media claim that Dodik and Bosic held final consultations at a meeting on Tuesday afternoon. Both of them confirmed after the meeting that the RS “is coming with a well-known position on the four ministries, one of which is the Foreign Ministry”. The first meeting of the six leaders was held 11 months after the elections, in September 2011. Several meetings have been held ever since, but none of them were successful.
