The Croatian parliament was dissolved on Friday, as 135 out of 137 MPs at the session voted in favor of the proposition.

Croatia: Parliament dissolved, elections in December

After the adoption of the decision to dissolve the parliament, Croatian President Ivo Josipović will call elections on Monday and they will probably be scheduled for December 4.

The sixth convocation of the Croatian parliament, which was dissolved on Friday, was constituted on January 11, 2008, when it was established that MPs gathered around then Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) leader Ivo Sanader constituted the parliament majority. Sanader was later appointed prime minister.

The Croatian parliament so far consisted of 153 MPs, but the new parliament will have a total of 151 MPs due to the fixed number of MPs from the Diaspora.
