Former U.S. President Bill Clinton was in Montenegro on Sunday, but he addressed those gathered to hear his speech by saying he was "glad to be in Macedonia". Clinton was opening a conference dedicated to the region's current problems in the seaside town of Becici when he made the gaffe. Clinton mixes up Montenegro and Macedonia Other than voicing his pleasure at "being in Macedonia", he told his hosts that the region of the Balkans needed to be integrated into Europe, via the EU, and NATO. Also on Sunday, Clinton received an honorary doctorate from the town of Bar's Mediterranean University. According to Rector Stevan Popovic, Clinton earned the title for his contribution to the advancement of education, inter-university exchange and solving global problems. The honorary doctorate was presented by Dusko Knezevic, the president of the Atlas Foundation, which together with the Montenegrin government organized the conference in Becici, dubbed, "Balkan Networking for Social Empowerment of South-Eastern Europe". Addressing the participants, Montenegrin Prime Minister Igor Luksic pointed out that the country's foreign policy priorities are good-neighborly cooperation and European and Euro-Atlantic integration. After the plenary, the conference will divide into three panels. Among the participants are Democratic Party of Socialists leader Milo Djukanovic, former Croatian president Stjepan Mesic and former Slovenian president Milan Kucan.
