Montenegro celebrates Independence Day

Montenegro and Serbia are celebrating the fifth anniversary since they renewed their independence. The two countries separated after more than 55 percent of Montenegrin citizens voted in favor of an independent state in a referendum. Montenegro will hold the central celebration in the town of Cetinje. Prime Minister Igor Luksic will host a reception for state and foreign officials. “The EU candidate status is Montenegro’s biggest achievement since it became independent,” former Serbian Ambassador to Montenegro Ognjen Pribicevic thinks.
