President of the Serb entity in Bosnia (RS) Milorad Dodik says he's optimistic about the future of an agreement with the EU regarding Bosnia's justice system. According to the agreement, a dialog would be opened on the functioning of judiciary in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Dodik optimistic regarding judiciary reforms “I am glad that we made Europe interested and that a joint committee will consider the issue at a meeting in Banja Luka in early June,” Dodik told Tanjug. He said the Serb Republic still kept the referendum option as the possibility for resolving the problem. Dodik said that the aim was to resolve four outstanding issues regarding the functioning of the judiciary in Bosnia, and expressed his satisfaction with Europe understanding it, “as opposed to High Representative in Bosnia Valentin Inzko.” The RS authorities have been announcing a referendum on the legality of the laws imposed by the high representative, especially the ones related to the Bosnia Court and the Prosecutor's Office. But during the visit of EU High Representative Catherine Ashton last week, she and Dodik agreed on the establishment of an EU commission for restructuring the judicial institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, after which Dodik announced a referendum was no longer necessary.
