A group of some 15 people wearing hoods threw home-made fire bombs at a riot police squad in Athens. The incidents occured outside the headquarters of the ruling PASOK party in the early hours of Thursday, but no injuries were reported. Police attacked in downtown Athens The perpetrators threw five fire bombs, four of which exploded on the pavement. A fifth fire-bomb remained intact, and has been taken for examination to the police crime lab. The attackers quickly fled the scene, evading arrest. There was no information about the reasons behind the violence. Attacks on police have been frequent in Greece lately and assailants are usually members of anarchist and extreme leftist groups.
