Montenegrin Police Chief Veselin Veljovic says that appraisals by Serbian police officials that cooperation is worst with Podgorica are “arbitrary.” “I’d like one of them to tell me that in person, and the first thing I’ll ask them is if there are any problems in our cooperation and what they are,” said Veljovic after talks with Slovenian counterpart Janko Gorsek. Montenegro police chief dismisses "poor cooperation" claims Stating that he had never heard such views from his Serbian colleagues, the Montenegrin police chief said that it was “their perception” that they did not have good cooperation with the Montenegrin police. He said that the Montenegrin police had not been involved in the joint Bosnian-Serbian operation to arrest crime baron Darko Elez because, he said, their assistance had not been solicited. “These are their criminals and crimes committed in their country. If we are asked to get involved, we’ll be there,” stressed Veljovic.
