Igor Jovovic, Montenegro's candidate for the country's ambassador to Serbia, faced a parliamentary committee in Podgorica. He told the Committee for International Relations and European Integrations on Thursday that the cooperation between the two countries should expand, stereotypes should be abandoned and fresh relations should be developed. New Montenegrin envoy receives unanimous backing Committee Chairman Miodrag Vukovic of the ruling Montenegrin DPS told reporters that Jovovic was backed by the committee unanimously. Vukovic evaluated that Jovovic would be fully committed to raising the relations between Montenegro and Serbia to the level expected by the citizens of the two countries. The committee members, according to Vukovic, wished Jovovic to "complete his full mandate in Belgrade". Montenegro has been without its top diplomatic envoy in Serbia since Ambassador Anka Vojvodic was expelled from the country last fall, following official Podgorica's decision to recognize the unilateral declaration of independence made by Kosovo's ethnic Albanians.

Committee Chairman Miodrag Vuković of the ruling Montenegrin DPS told reporters that Jovović was backed by the committee unanimously.

Vuković evaluated that Jovović would be fully committed to raising the relations between Montenegro and Serbia to the level expected by the citizens of the two countries.

The committee members, according to Vuković, wished Jovović to "complete his full mandate in Belgrade".

Montenegro has been without its top diplomatic envoy in Serbia since Ambassador Anka Vojvodić was expelled from the country last fall, following official Podgorica's decision to recognize the unilateral declaration of independence made by Kosovo's ethnic Albanians.
