RS police chief offers help to Serbian MUP

Republic of Srpska (RS) Police Chief Uros Pena says that he has offered his help to Serbian police with regards to the case of Strahinja Raseta. Raseta, who was killed at the weekend by his own bomb which he had planting under a target's jeep, was suspected of involvement in the murder of Djordje Zdrala in East Sarajevo. RS police chief offers help to Serbian MUP “Our colleagues from Serbia have told me that forensic work is under way and that they currently have no information as to what we can do to help them shed light on this case,“ said Pena. The RS police chief said that once forensic tests were complete, the RS police would see what they could do, writes daily Nezavisne Novine. He said that East Sarajevo was a very peaceful area in terms of security , as the number of crimes per 10,000 residents was only around 40, but that what crimes there was always tended to make the headlines. Pena added that the possibility had not been discounted that Raseta’s death might spark a serious of new underground clashes in the municipality. “Over there we’ve got a melting pot of gangs from Sarajevo, East Sarajevo, Montenegro, Serbia, not to mention those from Bijeljina and the eastern RS. Therefore, that possibility exists as long as criminals inhabit those areas,“ he warned.
