Montenegro has not begun the procedure for naming a new ambassador for Belgrade, Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic said. He also said that opening an embassy in Pristina “is not a priority in the greater diplomatic-consular network". Djukanovic: Belgrade's move awatied Djukanovic said at a press conference in Podgorica that his government has not “begun the procedure for preparing” to send a new ambassador to Serbia, since “an official act by the authorized Serbian ministry is needed to show its readiness to accept a new Montenegrin ambassador.” “There is no reason to rush. The Serbian ambassador is in Montenegro and doing his job, and the Montenegrin ambassador will be in Belgrade once Serbian officials tell Montenegro officials that they are ready to discuss the possibility of considering to agree on a new Montenegrin ambassador,” Djukanovic said. He added that Montenegro will establish diplomatic ties with Kosovo, but that the government does not have any strict deadlines for doing so. “That move is not in the first order of priorities for expanding Montenegro’s diplomatic-consular network,” Djukanovic said. When Podgorica several months ago recognized Kosovo Albanians' unilateral declaration of independence, Belgrade reacted by expelling the Montenegrin ambassador.
