Đukanović hints at early elections

Montenegrin PM Milo Djukanovic does not rule out the possibility that his country will see parliamentary elections as early as next spring. "Some elements are pointing in the direction that we should perhaps consider early elections," he said on Saturday. Djukanovic hints at early elections The current government's mandate expires in 2010, but an agreement in the fall of 2007 set late 2009 as the date for the next elections. Djukanovic is now saying that Montenegrins might go to the polls even sooner, "in order for the government to dedicate itself to obligations in the process of Montenegro's EU integrations and to overcoming of the consequences of the global economic crisis". But he did not specify whether he would remain prime minister should his Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) win enough seats to form a government.
