Sonja Karadzic-Jovicevic says that continuing pressure on her family is an extension of the broader pressure being exerted on the Republic of Srpska (RS). Radovan Karadzic’s daughter said that the search yesterday of her mother Ljiljana Zelen-Karadzic’s house is an extension of the continued pressure being put on the RS “in the context of the surprise transfer of Ratko Mladic and Goran Hadzic to Pale and the RS,” Banja Luka media reported. “Pressure on Karadzic family is pressure on RS” Karadzic-Jovicevic said that yesterday’s NATO operation was identical to earlier actions during the search for Radovan Karadzic before he was finally arrested and extradited. She said that NATO officials had this time the referred to their NATO mandate when searching the home, not citing a Hague Tribunal search warrant like last time. She said that the troops had entered the house at about 03:00 CET and that the search had lasted about three and a half hours. She added that she, her mother and brother were all questioned regarding their contacts, and if they had had any encounters with the two Hague fugitives. Karadzic-Jovicevic confirmed that she and her brother had been interviewed by phone and that nothing had been removed from the home by NATO officials on this occasion. NATO spokesman Derek Chappel told journalists in Sarajevo that there were suspicions that the Karadzic family was linked to Mladic’s support network. “The goal of the morning operation was to look for evidence that would prove that connection,” he said.
