Sarajevo’s District Court has decided to release Naser Oric, accused of extortion and illegal possession of firearms and explosives, from custody today. Oric was released on bail after spending 54 days in Sarajevo prison. Oric released from custody He is due to appear in court on December 3. The court justified its decision to release Oric on the grounds that there were “no reasons any longer to apply this measure.” Oric, the wartime commander of the Bosnian Muslim Army in Srebrenica, has been charged with extorting approximately EUR 102,000 from an unnamed individual, and with the unauthorized possession of firearms and ammunition, the purchase of which is forbidden by Bosnian law.
