Serbs and Croats have been withdrawing their children from Sarajevo nurseries, after Islamic religion instruction was introduced there. The children have been re-enrolled in other nurseries in the Serb part of Sarajevo. Santa banned in Sarajevo nurseries Arzija Mahmutovic, the director of the “Children of Sarajevo” Public Institution, which operates 24 nurseries in the city, decided to ban Father Christmas from all nurseries and stop giving gifts to children in Sarajevo nurseries for New Year. “Introducing religious education for Muslim children in Sarajevo nurseries, a city which has been ethnically cleansed of the other two nationalities, distances Bosnia-Herzegovina from Europe and brings it closer to the Middle East,” said Leo Plockinic, president of the Croatian Libertas NGO. He said that if this trend continued, Bosnia-Herzegovina would quickly become a radical Islamist country, because when children grew up and assumed important political positions, they would behave in line with what they were taught during their formative years.
