Croatia has complained at the lack of cooperation from the Serbian and Montenegrin police in the Ivo Pukanic murder case, writes Zagreb daily Jutarnji List. Even though cooperation went well initially, the daily quotes sources as saying that it is now clear that the Serbian and Montenegrin Interior Ministries are not contributing to the investigation at all, which is partly due to the influence of the Republic of Srpska (RS) police. “Serbian, Montenegrin MUP cooperation lacking” Quoting high ranking Croatian police and judicial sources, the daily writes that diplomatic circles in Zagreb have been notified of the issue, as well as certain international organizations, whom Croatia wants to pressure Belgrade and Podgorica into stepping up cooperation. So far it has been established that the murder of the co-owner of weekly Nacional and his assistant Niko Franjic was organized by Serbian and Montenegrin nationals in cooperation with Croatian criminals. The daily adds that one of them, Svetozar Djurovic, is close to notorious Serbian crime boss Sreten Jocic, who has still to be questioned by the Serbian authorities. The SIM cards used by this criminal organization belong to Montenegrin and Serbian mobile networks, but the Interior Ministries of the two countries have yet to check or deliver the phone records to their Croatian counterparts. The daily reiterates that Zeljko Milovanovic, suspected of placing the bomb under Pukanic’s car, was not arrested because of RS police negligence.
