NATO forces have searched the home of one of Ratko Mladic’s suspected accomplices in Rogatica. NATO HQ in Sarajevo has confirmed that this morning’s search of the home of Petar Jesic, a retired colonel in the Republic of Srpska Army (VRS), was conducted in order to find additional information concerning Mladic, as part of efforts to locate him. The search of Jesic’s property was conducted in accordance with NATO’s powers to help the Hague Tribunal in the search and arrest of war crimes suspects, and also in accordance with the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia-Hercegovina, approved by the UN Security Council. The NATO HQ statement reiterated that everyone who had information that might lead to the location, arrest and trial of Hague fugitives would be entitled to a reward. "A reward of up to USD 5mn could be paid for information leading to the arrest of the other two Hague fugitives, Mladic and Goran Hadzic,” a statement read. During the war, Jesic was attached to the Republic of Srpska’s (RS) Army HQ, located in Crna Rijeka village, near Han Pijesak.

Local police, who were at the scene, have been informed about the operation.

The search of Ješić’s property was conducted in accordance with NATO’s powers to help the Hague Tribunal in the search and arrest of war crimes suspects, and also in accordance with the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia-Hercegovina, approved by the UN Security Council.
