Miroslav Lajcak has decided to that passports belonging to members of Radovan Karadzic’s immediate family should be returned. The Bosnia-Herzegovina government can now return the documents, confiscated earlier, to Karadzic’s wife Ljiljana Zelen-Karadzic, daughter Sonja Karadzic-Jovicevic, son Aleksandar Karadzic and son-in-law Branislav Jovicevic, according to the Office of the High Representative (OHR) in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The family were stripped of their passports with the goal of preventing them from helping Karadzic and other Hague fugitives in their efforts to hide from the authorities, according to the statement. “After consultations with the relevant international and domestic partners and institutions, the high representative has decided that there is no longer a reason for taking away the documents needed for travel of these four individuals." "They now have the right to get their traveling documents back, as well as their personal identification cards. This decision will come into power immediately. The limits against other individuals remain in power,” the statement reads.

Their documents were taken away on January 9, 2008.
