A Muslim member of Bosnia-Herzegovina Presidency condemned recent statements made by Republic of Srpska Prime Minister Milorad Dodik. Haris Silajdzic condemned “all open attacks by the Republic of Srpska on Bosnia-Herzegovina’s constitutional framework and its international and legal position.” Silajdzic joins Mesic in criticism of Dodik Silajdzic said yesterday in Sarajevo that RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik's comments at the Serb National Council (SVN) gathering in Zagreb that “RS is a country while Bosnia-Herzegovina is imposed", were damaging to the image of Bosnia-Herzegovina outside of its borders at a time when all of Europe is pulling towards the process of integration. “His claims that he respects the Dayton Accord but that it is a ‘tight framework in which his interests cannot be achieved,’ is self-excluding,” Silajdzic said in a statement. He added that “the Dayton Accord is not only an article which mentions two entities, but represents and list of obligations which were never fulfilled, such as the return of refugees, true equality for all citizens in the whole territory of Bosnia-Herzegovina, and equal representation of the constitutive peoples in the local governments.” “The interests of one people have to be the interest of all the people and citizens of Bosnia-Herzegovina, and no one community has the right to call on interests that infringe on those of others,” Silajdzic said. He added that Dodik’s statements “once again confirm the need for a further engagement of the international community in Bosnia-Herzegovina, because they hint at the danger that rhetoric could turn into concrete actions, in case of an early departure of the OHR.” Silajdzic's comments came after yesterday's criticism voiced by Croatian President Stjepan Mesic.
