President of the Democratic Union of Albanians (DUA) Ferhat Dinosa says Montenegro should take a decision regarding recognition of Kosovo. Dinosa highlighted the importance of such a step not just because of relations with the Albanians, but also from the point of view of its own state and national interests. Montengrin Albanians call for Kosovo recognition “On the subject of Kosovo, Montenegro should not just act on the basis of relations with the Albanians, but also from the point of view of its own state and national interests,“ Dinosa told Podgorica daily Vijesti. The DUA leader said that “Montenegro doesn’t owe the Albanians in Montenegro anything, rather it owes it to its own European and Euro-Atlantic integration.“ “I don’t think Montenegro will subordinate its state interests to the Albanians or Serbs in Montenegro or Serbia,“ he said. Dinosa added that “the fact Montenegro has had a pragmatic position towards the question of Kosovo is not out of any spite to Serbia.“ The DUA leader on several occasions repeated his expectations concerning Montenegro’s widely rumored recognition of Kosovo’s unilateral independence in May. He said that recognition of Kosovo’s independence should not create any instability in Montenegro. Dinosa also expressed his expectation that in the not too distant future “Serbia, the democratic forces in Serbia, will grasp the new reality and want to see Kosovo as a good neighbor.“
