The Bosnian Prosecution has charged Momir Savic with war crimes. The charges have been brought over crimes committed in the Visegrad region of eastern Bosnia. Former RS paramilitary charged with war crimes Savic is accused primarily of persecution of the Bosniak civilian population on political, national, ethnic and religious grounds while serving initially as a member of a paramilitary unit during the days of the JNA’s Uzica Corps, and later as commander of the Republic of Srpska’s Visegrad Brigade between April and September 1992. According to the indictment, the accused committed the crimes by commanding, committing and participating with other individuals in murder, forced deportation, imprisonment, torture and rape. Savic is accused of neither standing in the way of nor sanctioning those under his command. The indictment has been passed on to the Bosnia-Hercegovina Court for confirmation, the Bosnian prosecution has announced.
