Rajko Kuzmanovic says that a unilateral declaration of Kosovo independence would set a dangerous precedent. The Republic of Srpska (RS) president said that the precedent would cause a domino effect in countries where there were regions or provinces that wanted to become independent and could use Kosovo as a reference for their separatist aspirations. RS president: Kosovo sets precedent Kuzmanovic said that the solution for the Kosovo crisis would be of great important for international law and political order. “Every unilateral recognition of Kosovo independence is an act that violates the principles of international law. It will encourage separatist and secessionist movements in many countries and regions,” Kuzmanovic said in an interview with Banja Luka daily Nezavisne Novine. He said that he hoped that a solution would be found through an agreement between Serbia and Kosovo Albanian leaders, and that the international community would refrain from taking sides. “Bosnia-Herzegovina will not support a declaration by Kosovo. The RS especially will not support it. There is only one solution we will accept – a resumption of negotiations and full agreement on both sides, which is the only thing that can achieve long-term stability in Kosovo, Serbia and the region,” he said.
