Croatian President Stjepan Mesic has weighed in on the ongoing crisis in Bosnia Sunday. A week into the political turmoil caused by reactions from Banja Luka and Belgrade to High Representative Miroslav Lajcak's latest measures, Mesic told Croatian Radio that the Republic of Srpska (RS) leadership wished to see disintegration of Bosnia-Herzegovina. Mesic: RS wants Bosnia to disintegrate Ethnic Serbs and Croats, as well as Bosniaks, are the three constituent nations in the two entities the country has been divided into after the end of the 1992-1995 war there. "This is a serious gamble with Bosnia's and with their own future, since the international community cannot in any case accept the breakup of Bosnia-Herzegovina," Mesic said. He also criticized the election campaign of the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ) party in Bosnia, explaining that "promoting a part of the electorate in this way was not good." "This brings about defiance, people saying, they will not decide for us," Mesic concluded.
