SARAJEVO Foreign ministers of Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Turkey, Ivan Mrkic, Zlatko Lagumdzija and Ahmet Davutoglu met in Sarajevo on Wednesday. The three officials announced the signing an agreement on economic cooperation "very soon", Tanjug is reporting. Serbia, Bosnia, Turkey, "together in difficult times" The talks in Sarajevo were led in preparation for a meeting of the heads of state of these countries in Ankara on May 14-15. Mrkic, Lagumdzija and Davutoglu agreed that deepening of economic cooperation and joint appearance on “fourth markets” are among their countries' priorities and the goal is future prosperity of the entire region. The Serbian foreign minister said that these meetings represent moves to further stabilize the region and strengthen the friendships to ensure good prospects for the region's development. “The quality of the political relations (between Serbia, Bosnia and Turkey) is so high that it makes it possible for us to operate on fourth markets together,” Mrkic told a press conference after the meeting. Mrkic said that the agreement on economic cooperation between Serbia, Bosnia and Turkey will be signed on the eve of the Ankara summit, expressing the hope that more such agreements will be reached in the future. Minister Lagumdzija pointed out that there are companies in the three countries that are interested in joint appearances, especially in the field of civil engineering, energy, infrastructure and food production. The markets that can be accessed jointly include the Middle East, Iraq and Africa, where Turkey has more operations that any other country, Lagumdzija said. The state administrations should create the conditions for such cooperation, to serve the economies of our three countries, he added. The Bosnian foreign minister said that the main focus of the Ankara meeting will be on economy, education, tourism and cultural cooperation. Our goal is to create a platform for a more intensive cooperation through these branches, Lagumdzija said. Minister Davutoglu said that he has been assuring Turkish companies that making investments in Serbia and Bosnia is as safe as investing in Turkey itself and that they should come and see that for themselves. I am always encouraging Turkish companies to invest in Bosnia and Serbia directly, he said. Davutoglu said that the trilateral meetings have helped restore the good will between the peoples to live side by side normally again and strengthen their friendship and cooperation. We are coming together in difficult times, said the Turkish foreign minister. Davutoglu said he hopes the Ankara summit will be attended by all members of the Bosnian Presidency, adding that diplomacy should help overcome all difficulties through dialogue. The three foreign ministers agreed that the meetings between the presidents of Serbia, Bosnia and Turkey should be held once every year, while the trilateral ministerial meetings should take place every fall and spring.
