PODGORICA Democratic Front leader Miodrag Lekic has announced that the alliance’s MPs will continue to boycott the Montenegrin parliament. Tensions have been running high in Montenegro since results of the presidential election were announced. Opposition leader announces further parliament boycott According to the results, Democratic Party of Socialists of Montenegro (DPS) presidential candidate Filip Vujanovic won the election while the opposition claims that the results were not true and that Lekic won. Lekic stressed that the Democratic Front MPs would continue to boycott parliament but that he would not insist that other opposition parties that supported him do the same. On the other hand, DPS high-ranking official Miodrag Vukovic has called on the Democratic Front MPs to end the boycott. “I call on them to return, be serious, drop the failed project and not do any harm to Montenegro,” he told Podgorica-based daily Pobjeda. Lekic noted, however, that most of the citizens felt cheated after the election and that it obligated the Democratic Front to continue the boycott. He added that a political dialogue was necessary in Montenegro and said that it was possible that peaceful protests would be organized. Andrija Mandic, leader of New Serb Democracy, which is a member of the Democratic Front, has called Vujanovic a “self-declared president” and stressed that all Montenegrin institutions were controlled by the DPS.
