Montenegrin president urges “friendly relations” with Serbia

PODGORICA Montenegrin President and Democratic Party of Socialists of Montenegro (DPS) presidential candidate Filip Vujanovic advocates friendly relations with Serbia. He added that he had intensive communication with his Serbian counterpart Tomislav Nikolic. Montenegrin president urges “friendly relations” with Serbia “I have to express high satisfaction with out communication. I was at Nikolic’s inauguration when no one else from the region was present. I decided to come without any dilemma and respect the will of Serbian citizens and show that I come to Belgrade to extend my hand to Nikolic and to together build close and open relations between the two countries,” Vujanovic stressed. He added that both Montenegro and Serbia had always benefited from his meetings with the Serbian president. “During Nikolic’s visit to Montenegro we talked about concrete economic issues and the need to affirm that the Port of Bar is Serbia’s service. We also talked about investing more in the Belgrade-Bar railway reconstruction in order to improve the quality of life of the two countries’ citizens,” the Montenegrin president noted. He also stressed that he and Nikolic had also discussed investments and possibilities to appear together in the third markets. “I think we need to build relations of open cooperation, partnership, friendship and closeness with Serbia,” Vujanovic stressed. The presidential election in Montenegro will be held on April 7. This will be the sixth presidential election in Montenegro since a multi-party system was introduced and the second since the country became independent in 2006.
