LJUBLJANA Slovenia’s PM Janez Jansa, who started an official visit to Albania Wednesday, has accused President Danilo Turk of justifying violence with his statements. “It is sad. The president of the republic and those who support him justify violence with their statements,” Jansa wrote on his Twitter account after protests in Maribor and Ljubljana. The Slovenian president also urged freedom of speech for everyone and the right to peaceful protests. Slovenian president accused of “justifying violence”

At a campaign rally in the town of Slovenj Gradec, Turk said that the government needed to understand the “democratic content” of the protests and that citizens defended the welfare state because they wanted to defend Slovenia’s identity.

The Slovenian president also urged freedom of speech for everyone and the right to peaceful protests.

Slovenians have announced that they will, after Maribor and Ljubljana, organize protests in Kranj, Celje, Trebnje and other towns.
