Croatia will continue to celebrate the Operation Storm despite the fact that the Hague Tribunal convicted Generals Ante Gotovina and Mladen Markac. This is according to Croatia’s Defense Minister Ante Kotromanic. “Croatia will keep celebrating Operation Storm” He added that the “Operation Storm will be celebrated because it was undoubtedly the most important operation in Croatia’s history”. “We will always celebrate it with honor, importance and honesty and we will always say that the Croat Army was a winning army,” the minister stressed. Hague Tribunal Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz said on Friday that it was up to Croatia’s officials whether the Operation Storm would be continued to be marked as a national holiday but that the entire Croatian society should be aware of what had happened during the operation. “There is no doubt that a number of crimes were committed during the operation,” Brammertz noted.
