The Research and Documentation Centre (IDC) of Bosnia-Herzegovina has registered around 98,000 victims killed in the last war in the country. 55 percent of the vicrims were soldiers and 45 percent were civilians. Around 98,000 victims of Bosnian war registered so far he data were presented by IDC Director Mirsad Tokaca, who told Srna news agency that the number of victims was not definite since the research would be continued. He stressed that the number would not exceed 100,000, including the 500 Bosnia-Herzegovina citizens who were slaughtered on the battlegrounds in Croatia and Slovenia in 1991. Tokaca said that exaggeration in the number of killed, raped and captured persons was a part of the mentality and attempts to make things worse than they were, although, as he put it, they were already inherently dreadful. He stated that more than 33,000 Bosniak civilians and 30,000 soldiers were killed in the war, as well as more than 4,000 Serb civilians and almost 21,000 soldiers and 2,100 Croatian civilians and somewhat more than 100 soldiers. “We carried out the research by municipalities, and we were interested in the national structure of the victims. The greatest number of victims was registered in Sarajevo - 13,756, Srebrenica, Prijedor, Zvornik, Bratunac, Foca, Vlasenica, Mostar, Doboj, Visegrad, Banja Luka, Brcko and Rogatica,” he concluded.
